Medical, pharmaceuticals, life science, and bioscience. Is there a difference?

I work for a medical device company that used to be owned by a pharmaceutical company. In my experience, in the UK at least, they didn’t understand what a Field Service Engineer was or why we had specific IT requirements (so that our corporate laptops could act as service notebooks). We got there in the end 😊

Interesting. I would have thought that Pharma companies, at least the people working with equipment that might need servicing, e.g. in R&D and on the manufacturing side of the business, should know about the needs of Field Service Engineers.

They probably would have done. I think the challenge for us was that we were technically part of the Sales Org, not R&D / Manufacturing.

Where Customer support and service should sit within a company hierarchy is a whole other question.

Uh oh! I’ve opened a can of worms!
