What 15 things should be on your personal Health, Safety and Environment – HSE list?

Introduction to HSE Checklist

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) guidelines and regulations change in detail from industry to industry, customer to customer, year to year, country to country, season to season….
However, as a Field Engineer how do you take care of your own health and safety wherever you are and whatever you are doing?

Your location, environment, and surroundings (5/15)

1. Does the area have good lighting and do you have ample room to work and good visibility on all sides of your workspace?
2. Are non-essential personnel excluded where necessary?
3. Do you have somewhere where you can take a break and do you have sufficient water/fluids to remain hydrated – and if necessary with salt tablets) ?
4. Is there someone available to help you move or carry heavy kit or equipment?
5. If you have equipment on wheels, is there a route which has smooth flooring and a lift rather than stairs?

6. Have you been given a clear and full briefing by local staff?
7. How are incidents and accidents dealt with and reported?
8. Do you know the evacuation procedure?
9. How would you recognise an alarm? Could you hear one, or see a visible alarm signal?
10. Where is the nearest first aid kit?
